An Altar is a portal… a grounding place, and a safe haven to elevate potentials from.
This workshop combines Yunuen Rhi’s and Stephanie Tess Manrique methodologies and self-healing tool sets. These two Mexican parallel sisters have lived and learned from around the globe from First Nations Elders, to Jodorowsky to Chinese Martial Art Masters to Jill Purce and Stanislav Grof. Now coming together in Berlin, this workshop is an offering of potent tools for re-coding current life patterns.
An Altar is a place designated for offerings. The Mexican Altars often contain special foods, power items and poetic intentions as sacred nourishment for the spirits. The placement of these offerings is essential and exists in realms beyond the terrestrial, according to Mixteca and Tolteca traditions.
In this workshop Altar-ing refers to the process of elevating our desires and potentials as we work with the self, the body, and the collective body as one conscious expansive entity.
We will use Mexica (Aztec) and Daoist grounding exercises, alongside a dramaturgy tool to release blockages in order to embody our true desires. The build up of these tools will culminate in a collective self-healing methodology called Huarache Constellation.
The work will be divided in three segments
The physical self-healing component of the workshop comes from Baguazhang, Internal Martial Art system. It’s philosophy teaches how to be a complete being and how to remain in flow with the body.
Furthermore utilizing a technique from the Dramatic Arts we will explore ways in which emotional blockages and belief systems shape our bodies and realities. Identifying how these manifest in the habitual, obstructing our flow, through their recognition we aim to disempower them, moving beyond the blockages towards our true desires. Consciously acknowledging that desire lies at the root of everything.
The Huarache Constellation is a dialogue between the ritual aspects of Maria Sabina’s ceremonial poetics, (Mazateca priestess of the mushrooms) and the Zulu side of Family Constellation Work through a body movement group interrelation. It is a collective self-healing methodology developed by Yunuen Rhi. Since its creation in late 2017, it has deeply touched several beautiful groups at PAM performance residencies, Pieter and at La Maida Healing Institute in Los Angeles.
