As part of my performance residency at PAM which involves self and communiity care, I want to share an introductory training session of my martial art practice with the LA community.
This will be the first of other actions to come.
Baguazhang is an internal martial art system from China that applies Ying Yang philosophy to a martial body movement practice. It harnesses wisdom from Taoist and Buddhist principles dating back to the founder of Shaolin Kung Fu and Zen Buddhism.
The Bagua system creates combat strategies within a circle and contains in the practice a deep philosophy of movement. It unites the body and mind with the spirit in each step.
This two-hour session provides succinct theoretical context of both martial arts and Traditional Chinese Medicine. The practical portion is a guide to alignment, taoist standing postures and stretches, qi cultivation and bases for the circle walking practice.
Looking forward to sharing this very powerful training,
